I'll admit it, I'm not a big fan of their particular style of pizza but we were meeting friends from out of town who rave about. We went to the North Ocean City location on a busy Saturday evening and were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. As stated before the pizza is OK just not my cup of tea. I was however very pleasantly suprised by sample wing I had (mild) and their french fries were very good. I would return in the future as nothing occurred that would sour me on Grotto's. I guess your a fan or your not.

Been here several times. We arrived as they opened & were seated an taken care of promptly. The pizza is definitely different as the cheese & sauce are mixed. It's not bad but not my fav pizza either. Will definitely be back in 2013!

They're a little pricey but it is a resort, there Cheesey Steak sub is to die for. Soooooo good. Ther pizza and fries are very good too. Staff is very nice...

A really casual family restaurant with terrific, friendly service. Food is good and affordable. They had $2.00 draft beers; tab for 3 was less than $40, which included appetizer, pizza, and drinks. This will be a stop on my next trip to the beach.

Grotto food is standard at every location and the food is decent-- we always like the Grotto atmosphere, however, the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress like the other staff seemed to be completely rushed and it was not busy at the time we went. I understand being busy but her attitude was that of not wanting to be there. Our order too was messed up and the worst part was another waitress brought it out and said the kitchen made a mistake but were serving it to us anyway. Well, we were too hungry to complain, but half way through eating it was just so unenjoyable and our waitress came back and did not even apologize. Thankfully the manager was accommodating and gave one entree for free, but still we thought a good ole favorite would be nice to go, but was a really downer. Be prepared to be ignored.

Pizza tastes good; albeit a little greasy. A bit over priced. Large pizza with pepperoni cost me $20.13! that seems high for pizza w/ one topping.

visited on vacation trip. location is bright, clean, and more modern then other grotto's i have been to. service was pleasant and efficient. food ranges from good to decent although pizza is overpriced for quality and quantity that you get. nicest location of all of the grotto's i have been to.

Food was good, wings and cheese fries. However they forgot our order of pizza so we waited an hour for it and just got it to go. on the upside the manager took the pizza off the check.

Food and service has been absolutely wonderful every time. We're so glad they've finally come to OC! The food came out very fast both times. Gelato was also very good.

All my exes live in Texas like I'm George Strait this pizza is okay but not great There's not much cheese on the pizza, but I can't fake on those olives, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. The toppings are worth it (a few dollars for each). Plus I got to sit near the boardwalk where I could flex and have my tattoo glitter in the moonlight. Or I could flaunt the henna tattoo on my other arm if I had eaten that pie in the daylight no homo. Next Yelp review coming at you in 10 minutes

Very welcoming once you get in. But after you sit down and order it's like your on your own. The pizza is flavorless and soggy.food came out slightly warm. The Strombonis have little to no cheese and the chicken has no flavor. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY$$ go get DOMINOES INSTEAD

The food was good and the service was good too. A little loud and cramped. The pizza was better than most of your typical pizza just had a better flavor. The AC was broken the day I went so it was not the most pleasant experience that I have had with a restaurant but the food was still good. They were given a 3 Due to the AC issue. If they had a working AC they would probably have gotten a 4, probably.

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. Good pizza, and an amazing view. We had the cheese pizza and a wedge salad, and we were really pleased. Will be back during our next visit to ocean city.

Great pizza, friendly staff, clean. Went there twice over a quick emergency 3 day trip to OC. Good variety of pizza place food, portions were sufficient and they were pretty good tasting (although wow they like to fry stuff). If I had to ding them on anything, it's that they keep with the OC tradition and charge a bit too much money for stuff. Not over the top like Bad Monkey, where lunch for 5 was $110 before tip, with no alcohol, but still, a tad pricey. Also, for some reason I saw water dripping from the ceiling at an AC grate. You can see a lot of discoloration in the tiles around the various AC vents so I suspect this is an issue all summer.

Gluten free pizza was crispy and delicious! I am from near buffalo, ny and the wings were on point! My husband and I loved them! Good kids menu! My son loved his pizza! Gelato was pretty good, just average tasting, Lots of pizza varieties and other choices! Good location! Check out north side park right near it! Negative points- staff is young and unknowledgable about menu. Lots of staff just standing around. I spilled my Pepsi (because the waitress handed me a hot plate) and none of the staff flinched. Loud, but family friendly!

Very, very good pizza and the wings were way better than the Hooters near by. Prices were reasonable though I feel fries should come with subs like at most places. I like that they offer pizza by the slice. I had the veg Panini which was very good but I did need to add balsamic to it. The tuna sub was huge and loaded with white tuna. Friendly service and clean inside.

Great beer specials, nice pour in a large glass only $2. Always great pizzas, had a cheese pizza for the kids, which they devoured. Mrs and I ordered the Milano pizza, which had fresh tomatoes, basil, and cheese blend, plus olive oil with herbs & spices. It was a terrific pizza, and was even praised by our waitress when we ordered it. Restaurant was very clean, and kids even got balloons on the way out the door. Definitely one of the more "family friendly" pizza joints in OC.

Great food, mediocre service. But I expect having our large party seated 10 min before closing didn't help.

  • Neal B.

standard pizza, not bad, however IF YOU ORDER CARRYOUT ALLOW AN EXTRA HALF HOUR AT LEAST! And this was a relatively slow Monday nite! I told the manager they should not be taking orders on the phone and telling people it will be 20 minutes, when it was over 45 minutes. Also, check your order before leaving! Got home only to find my 'wedge salad w blue cheese' did not have the dressing in the carryout order I picked up! very disappointed.

Great Greek salad and pizza! Quick service, lots of TV's in bar area. Oc location is clean and a newer building.

Have been a fan for years and come whenever I am within striking distance. Pizza quality is very high. I especially like the crust and the service has usually been strong with fast service. They also have an extensive menu with lots of items worth checking out. There is a reason they have been around for 50 years

Excellent service, great food, great atmosphere. Our waiter was helping us order what we wanted and use coupons to receive our best pricing he was very helpful.

We came for happy hour on Friday. Not many people there. Bartender was our waitress. She wasn't a very good one. She was too busy chatting about tv to help us much. We ordered the $5 specials. Our $5 salads were super small. Fresh, but tiny for $5. Cheese sticks were good. Hot and crunchy. Pizza sauce was tasty, however dough was too moist and had no crunch. Not sure if I'd try again with regular menu items. Place was clean!

  • Shakeem B.

Pizza is ok but overly priced. I was expecting more than I received. I spent $15 on three slices (2pepperoni and one cheese) and two regular drinks. Not impressed.

Grottos pizza has been a tradition in my family since I was a baby. I don't remember what it tasted like back then, in rehobeth DE, but I'm sure it was just as incredible as it is today! I can't help but eat there at least twice every time I visit ocean city! The thin crust and perfect proportion of sauce and cheese leaves me craving for more each time! If you've never tried grottos then believe me when I say that you're missing out! Get in your car and make the decision to forever change your life with a heavenly slice of grottos pizza!!

If you enjoy pizza crust that tastes like cardboard with very little cheese, than this place is for you. I would've rated as just one star but I added another because of our waiter (Woody) because he was very good.

I really think that competing pizza joints leave bad reviews here. We really enjoyed eating here the other day.

  • Donald P.

I am kind of a pizza snob so the pizza was just ok at best. No real flavor and was very plain. Nothing really to brag about. It was mildly crowded and pizza took forever. Worst of all it came out cold.

  • Ellishia T.

We ordered one of the specialty pizzas and it was okay, but not worth the price. Friend ordered a gluten free and said it was pretty awful. The wings were disgusting! Not crisp at all, mostly soggy batter in a mild hot sauce. If you do some searching you can definitely get way better wings and pizza in OC.

  • Heather F.

Came here for a slice of nostalgia. Not as i remembered from way back when. Cardboard like crust with little sauce & cheese. Did the pizza change or just me? Oh well....

    (1)
  • MaryLou F.

The pizza is ok to below average. It's super expensive for pizza. I'm not sure why people go here. The rest of the food is Sysco grade, heavily dressed and processed. The mushrooms are canned! C'mon, you're a pizza place and can't get fresh mushrooms?! If you're around a Billys sub shop, their pizza is far superior!!!

Grotto's is my "go to" restaurant in Ocean City. They have great GF options for their pizza and delicious salads. The staff is always warm, friendly and efficient. I love coming here anytime of the year!! Thanks Grottos for having good food and service :)

Absolute WORST PIZZA I ever had in my life... Cardboard Dry No Sauce Cheese taste like Rubber No spices at all and all around was the biggest waste of money I ever paid .... It is ashame with all the hype around this place how bad it is and it was over $15 for a regular pizza that was the size of my hand (big hands ) REALLY ??? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY .... All the money they must make and they cant just make simple homemade pizza .... I am ashamed at the owners of this place I am from the Philly NJ NY area... Which has some of the best pizza around..

We went to this Grotto location two weeks ago and ordered a pizza. Baked inside our pizza was a large HAIRBALL. After a horrible experience with the manager on duty, we addressed the issue with the local Health Department. They did an inspection on their kitchen and processes. After that visit we will NEVER eat at a Grotto Pizza and we hope you stay away, too. By the way, we contacted their corporate offices and never received a return call. Not impressed with anything from this company.

Good old days. One of the things I looked fwd to coming to Ocean City was Grotto's Pizza. I haven't had the opportunity to have some for 5 years or more. I have always rated Grotto's as one of the best. Not anymore. The pizza served was --- just pizza. I wouldn't say it was bad. But it was not the Grotto's I remember. The service was ok too. Not good, not bad. It was obvious the place is still popular; plenty of people and a lot of hustle bustle. That kept our server busy enough to just be able to do her job. Guess I will just have to remember the good old days.

Pathetic excuse for a "boli"... Dry, void of flavor, and ridiculously small for what I paid. Sent it back and had an equally bad panini in exchange. They didn't charge me for either. Was there days ago and had a calzone which was very good... If you have to be here.. Order the calzone.

We were lucky to come across this place. We came in the take out door and after some confusion "Woody" the bartender noticed and sorted it out. Excellent service by him though the girls seemed confused. No problem prob summer help. We had a Philly Pizza and our nanny had chicken Caesar. She liked the salad. Family loved the pizza. I was happy with the $2 16 oz beer. Plenty of seating options. Outdoor seating and family friendly bar area. Pizza was thin and crispy like we like. NJ pizza snob here and this pizza passed. Wasn't busy. Prompt service and food. OC is expensive so expect $20 pizza anywhere. Our new go to place in OC.

Ok so I wrote a review about their service as well as the swirl card program. I also sent an email to corporate. Over 2 months later, no response from mgt. I gave them another chance a month ago. Busy Saturday night. Spent close to $80 and never was asked by the waitress if we had a swirl card. Once again this swirl card is a joke and every waitstaff person is different. All they are concerned about is getting you in and out. Pizza is ok but there are other places much better.

Barely mediocre pizza... My husband referenced it to taste similar to chuck e cheese pizza. Used to eat at the Wilkes Barre, PA location all of the time and this was nowhere near the same quality/taste! Very disappointed!

I went to Grotto's not for the restaurant, but for the mini golf course! We had gone to Old Pro Golf a few blocks away, but had TERRIBLE service, so we went to Grotto's instead! It was super cheap, a fun course, and you can bring beverages from the bar on to the course! Drink and golf? What could be better? Also, they have a late night happy hour (9-11 I believe). We had a lot of fun and will absolutely go back.

Pizza was absolutley horrible. The employee who took my wifes order insulted her when I had went to pick up the food saying " is this for the intoxicated girls " . What was it his business of she was drinking while on vacation. Never will give this place a cent of my money ever again. Try making better food and get some better employees.. Wish i can give ZERO STARS!!

Good food, friendly service. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Last time I ate at a Grotto pizza was over 10 years ago and the pizza was just how I remembered it. The small (maybe kid's size) pizza was perfect for one person. My family also ordered calzones and were happy with their dishes. Very filling. The menu has something for everyone. It's a chain but still good. If I were just getting pizza, I would choose Lombardi's or Ponzetti's first.

I was starting to think that Manco and Manco in OCNJ had Grotto beat hands down but after eating here this year I think it may be back to being a tie. The pizza crust had just a little crispiness to it this time. We had a table of 10 and we were seated quickly and service was prompt. It's super awesome that they now have a Grotto in OCMD so I don't have to drive to South Bethany.

So happy to finally have Grotto in OC! Been twice since they have opened and nothing but thumbs up! We went during Springfest thinking we would have to wait for a table on a Saturday night...10 minutes. This place is huge and has a great sports bar in the back. Our group had ravioli, pizza and salads. All were delicious. I had the white pizza which no one can beat. Good move on Grotto's part by bringing staff from current restaurants in, it showed by having great service and no glitches. Don't leave without having gelato, it's amazing.

This place seems to be wearing off on us because the last few times we have been the pizza has been so-so. Hope it gets better soon!

You will love this pizza if you like bowling alley pizza. We were deceived by the picture in the ad. So gross :(

  • Gina C.

So disappointed in service here. We ordered a half spinach and feta pizza n half cheese. We got half cheese and fiesta. When we informed our server, she said the one she gave us was 20 cents cheaper rather than apologizing and fixing it for us. In the future perhaps Grotto should better train staff to accommodate customers and give them what they ordered or fix their errors. I asked for a cheese slice for my one friend who didn't eat chicken and our waitress gave us an overcooked slice. Shame Grotto for such poor service. Lombardis is way better!!

  • Margaret B.

Just went to Grottos for Dinner. Not a good experience. Waitress with too many tables. Ordered a12 inch pizza with cheese and a order of chicken fingers. Chicken fingers came out and the pizza 30 minutes later and was a16 inch. She was having problems with another tables check. Another table came and ordered a pizza and it came out in a short time. The location should have some training in serving customers. No one seemed to be in charge. Grottos should be concerned that all locations are kept to a higher standard.

My whole family loves grottos, and half of us are from NY! We decided to stop in at the new boardwalk location and we were not disappointed. The view of the ocean from the patio is incredible. One of my kids chicken tenders never came to the table so the waiter sent over the manager to speak to us and she was very friendly and accommodating and she even brought my youngest a balloon when he started crying! You must try the gelato the biscotti flavor is the best.

Stopped in for lunch Saturday while cruising the Boardwalk. We weren't in the mood for pizza so I tried the steak panini and onion rings and found them pretty tasty. It was all pretty good and you can't beat the $3 beers! Sharon took good care of us.
